Leona O’Neill has been a journalist for over 20 years in Northern Ireland, working across newspapers, magazines, radio and television.
She is a news journalist with the Belfast Telegraph and a broadcast journalist with QRadio. She is an Irish News columnist, a field producer with Al Jazeera international news company and regular commentator on the BBC.
She has been a special interest in legacy stories, giving victims of the Troubles – who may not have previously spoken of their journey – a voice. She won special praise for her sensitive coverage of the Greysteel Massacre, in which some of the families spoke out only to her after 25 years of silence, and to the husband of murdered census worker Joanne Mathers.
She runs the News360NI, Facebook and YouTube news pages which recently won a Northern Ireland Social Media Award.
She is based in Derry.
