Lauren is a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Nottingham. She recently submitted her doctoral thesis which was completed at the University of Sheffield and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, entitled ‘Hidden Victims: An exploration of the criminal justice experiences of homicide bereaved people’.
She was invited to present her research findings to the Ministry of Justice and has consulted them on their offering of support to victims of crime, particularly in their delivery of the National Homicide Service.
Lauren has also publicly spoken about her own experiences of media exposure around the murder of her mother, and the impact that ongoing media intrusion has had on her and wider family network. She now advocates and advises other families in similar situations.
