Multi award-winning ﬁlm-maker Alison Millar started her career at the National Film and Television School in the early 90’s and has gone on to make observational documentaries and current affairs ﬁlms for Channel 4 and across the BBC.
In the past ﬁve years, individually and with her television production company Erica Starling, she has won a BAFTA for Best UK Current Affairs, Prix Italia, Prix Europa, Boston Irish Film Festival, Celtic Film Festival, Irish Film and Television Academy Awards and Royal Television Society Awards. Erica Starling works with some of the UK and Ireland’s best producers and directors, as well as nurturing upcoming talent.
Well known and respected for her sensitivity in ﬁlming very difficult subjects, critics write of Alison’s work as “giving a voice to those who are the most vulnerable in society”. She is also a rigorous journalist who strives to tell the truth, no matter how difficult the story may be.
